I touched time today.

A wisp of gossamer wing
grazed my fingertips
and as I grasped
the single strand,
a chill spread.

Vanished,
the warmth
and motion
...
and I was alone
without even the comfort
of a memory.

That wisp of flame,
meant to live
in constant sweep,
touching past
and future
with grace and life,

FROZEN

in a single
instant
of selfish claim
on that which cannot
be
confined.
